Pedro Hernandez Ibarra

JazzPath Music Director


Pedro Hernandez Ibarra has been at the Dreyfoos School of the Arts since 1999. He currently directs the JE1 jazz ensemble and jazz combos, as well as teaching music composition, jazz piano,  jazz improvisation, music technology, and music theory. Under his direction the jazz bands have consistently received superior ratings at local and national music festivals. Many of his students are winners in the Pathfinder Awards, Grammy Band, Grammy Student Music Awards, DSOA Concerto Competition, Jazz Band of America, and have consistently been selected to All-District and All- State Jazz ensembles.

  • Mr. Hernandez will oversee all aspects of the music curriculum as well as teaching and leading the JazzPath Big Band.

  • Our staff will include graduates of Dreyfoos' Jazz program, students at top university and conservatory jazz programs, and working professional jazz musicians.

Joshua Ewers and Michael Mackey are two of Palm Beach County's most talented and sought-after jazz musicians.  Both are graduates of The A.W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts and both are currently studying at Palm Beach State College.  Providing instruction in bass, trumpet and overall band interaction, Josh and Michael bring unique talents and skills to our students each week, as well as sitting in with the band.
